Cheat Meal

Last night was my night to be bad. I had been craving this fig and prosciutto pizza all week from a local restaurant Tavolino. After work Joe and I headed down to Patriot Place and didn't get there until 6:45 so I was starving by that time. We decided to start with an appetizer of BBQ grilled shrimp served on top of polenta. This was a special and it was yummy (sorry about the picture not so clear).

Then it was on to my fig and prosciutto pizza with fresh arugula and balsamic drizzled on top. It was so delicious and exactly what I wanted. I have never ordered anything else when I go here, I just love it that much.

Since I gave up ice cream for lent I wanted some on our way home since I hadn't had any in 40+ days. We stopped at a local ice cream store and I got a vanilla soft serve with some reese pieces. No picture I ate it before I snapped one.

Today I am off to help clean up the track at the YMCA where we meet for our morning workouts with Back on My Feet. Before I head out I made a banana almond butter protein shake.

Here are the ingredients I put into my smoothie, almond milk, banana, wheat germ, ground flax seed, almond butter, ice and my favorite protein powder.

I can only find this at Trader Joe's.

Question: Do you order the same meal when you go to one of your favorite restaurants?

Royal Friday

Is anyone else sick of hearing about the royal wedding? I am glad today is the day so we don't have to keep hearing all about it on the news. Although I am not going to lie I was dieing to see Kate's dress. She looked gorgeous but the dress wasn't my style.

Last night after work I headed to the gym for workout number 2 of the day. I take a class called Bosu and Bells which incorporates the use of bosus and kettlebells throughout an hour long workout. It was so hot and humid during the class I was so sweaty by the end but felt great.

Since I was tired when I got home last night Joe and I decided on takeout. We got Chinese so I had my usual orange chicken and crab rangoons it was so yummy! (Since I am new to this blogging thing I keep forgetting to take pics of my food, I will get better I promise).

This morning was another morning with my Back on My Feet (BOMF) team. We met at Father Bills then ran over to the track for our morning run/walk. BOMF is an organization that partners with the homeless population and offers them an opportunity to get healthy by running. We provide them with the necessary gear they need to run and once they show us a commitment to the program they start accruing grant money based on their participation and mileage. You can visit http://www.backonmyfeet.org/ for more information.

After my very early workout I headed over to the gym for a Myoforce class which is similiar to TRX but is on a pulley system. This is a full body workout which I love, but this morning my legs were still a little sore so I struggled a little.

Question: Do you volunteer with any organizations?

Spring has Sprung

Well Spring has finally arrived in Boston. It was 65 this morning when I left for the gym at 5:30. I arrived at the gym and did a quick 15 minutes on the elliptical before meeting with my trainer for our weekly duet session. The air conditioner unit in the cardio room broke so it was so hot and humid in there. I am so glad I only had to do 15 minutes this morning.

This morning our session focused on upper body and abs since mine and my partners legs were both very sore. I had a great workout despite my legs feeling a little weak.

I then headed back home to shower and get ready for work.  For breakfast I had a protein smoothie with berries, soy, protein powder and ice. Sorry I forgot to snap a picture.

Now I am off to work on the redline, what fun!

Question: If your body is sore do you take the day off or power through a workout?

Chili Wednesday

I found out today that I did not get picked to run the 2011 New York Marathon so now I am on the hunt for a fall marathon. If you applied for the lottery you can check to see if you are in at http://www.tv.nyrr.org/

Although I was bummed I did not get into the marathon I did receive a beautiful orchid plant at work today for Administrative Professional's Day.

Since today is Wednesday I treated myself to lunch at Cosi for turkey corn chili. Wednesdays is the only day they offer this soup and I love it! I had a small soup along with a piece of their delicious whole wheat flatbread.

After a long day of work I headed straight home and Joe (my fiance) and I made a quick dinner together, which never usually happens (I am always the cook.) Joe was heading out to watch the Bruins game and play trivia tonight so we just threw together a quick and easy dinner.  We made egg whites with peppers, onion, leftover turkey, and salsa. We served the egg scramble along with shredded has browns (I didn't care for them so I gave them to Joe.)

Question: What are some of your favorite fall marathons to run?

My first blog post!

I have been reading blogs for the past few months now and have been inspired me to create my own, so I hope you follow me in my journey. I love to run, work out and cook so I am hoping to share some recipes along with other health tips with you.

Today my day started bright and early with my alarm set for 4:45am so I could get up and meet my Back on My Feet team at Father Bill's for our morning workout, which we actually could be outside for today since it was so warm. I think spring is finally on its way! I will be telling you more about my association with Back on My Feet in future posts. After I finished my morning workout with my Father Bill's Team I headed to the gym for a pilates reformer workout then it was home to change real quick and head out to work.

Breakfast this morning was a small smoothie with bananas, berries and soy milk along with an egg white breakfast sandwich on whole wheat english muffin. Since I had a hectic morning I didn't have time to make my breakfast so I had to grab something before work. Stay tuned for more!
